Attaining National Board Certification
Officially known as the second differential (C6 + PD), most members achieve the salary differential with the highest pay scale by taking 30 course credits beyond their bachelors and masters degrees. But a lesser-known path to the top differential is to receive certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

If you are a tenured teacher with a valid NYS teaching certificate and employed as a full-time teacher in a NYS public school you can apply.
Application deadline is February 7, 2025.
Pay up front $75 registration fee, must pay each year you are in the process.
Funds first time candidates. All components must be attempted within 3 years.
Also funds retake of one component or Maintenance of Certification.
