Centering on English Language Learners reviews current research on best practices for teachers of English Language Learners.

Notable is Double the Work: Challenges and Solutions to Acquiring Language and Academic Literacy for English Language Learners a report to the Carnegie Corporation of New York published by the Alliance for Excellence in Education (2007). It offers a wealth of resources summarized in this news brief, which also has a book corner, a section called The Practitioner's Perspective and a Web site review (Colorin Colorado).

For further information on books that can positively impact classroom instruction, see the brief article on Books to further Our Teaching of English Language Learners, an excerpt from Volume 17 of the UFT Teacher Center Professional Development Program magazine, Special Edition.
